FOTSWP Week in Review Ep 1: June 13 - 19, 2020
Well hello there!
It was an ahh-mazing week in the Star Wars podcast galaxy. I listened to some of the best podcasts of the year this week, and can't wait to share my recommendations!
1. Postcards from the Galaxy's Edge
I don't even have the words for how incredible and emotional this video is. Shannon Moran created the second episode of her The Moment Star Wars Spoke to Me series about the fathers in the Star Wars fandom, and the moments Star Wars spoke to these men as fathers. It hits us right in the feels, and I actually had tears flowing down my cheeks at the end credits.
Post Cards from the Galaxy's Edge is a member of the Beyond the Blast Doors Network, a network dedicated to creating high-quality, positive, inclusive content for fans.

2. Blue Bantha Milk Co.
My favourite Australians, Mat & Sean from the Blue Bantha Milk Co, interviewed my new favourite friends, Bryan and Tom from Pink Milk Podcast. It was a fun interview that at times was both emotional and eye-opening. At the heart of the interview, it's about diversity, representation, and acceptance in the Star Wars fandom. I generally love everything BBMC creates (so expect to see these guys a lot on my rec lists), but this one was an interview I won't soon forget.
Blue Bantha Milk Co. creates video essays that explore Star Wars and its relations with its audience, popular culture and wider society. They offer fans the opportunity to share their personal stories, while helping new fans discover the saga that means so much to so many. BBMC believes in progression and equality of representation in Star Wars.

3. Pink Milk
This is a new-to-me podcast. I've recently become friends with Bryan on Twitter (whom I adore him so much)! Once I was done listening to their interview with BBMC, I immediately rushed to their site to listen to their podcast. Bryan, and his husband Tom, share their experiences as a super fan (and the one forced to listen to them). But they also bring the perspective from of gaze of the LGBTQ+ community and speak about their experiences in Star Wars fandom spaces. They aren't afraid to speak about the issue of diversity and inclusiveness in a way that is nuanced and at times surprising, as was the case with these episodes.
Pink Milk is a podcast created by Star Wars "superfan" Bryan, and his husband Tom, who is "forced to listen to him." They created Pink Milk for the LGBTQ+ Star Wars community, and "those forced to listen to them."

4. The Resistance Broadcast | Star Wars News Net
This is my absolute favourite Star Wars podcast, and I never miss an episode. Lacey, John, & James consistently bring a quality show in a positive and well-structured manner, with some really great discussion questions that they aren't afraid to tackle. The topic this week was well-argued and fiesty at times. I had many thoughts about the subject matter, and even discussed the topic with my colleague and husband (as I often do after the "discussion" episodes). Check it out!
The Resistance Broadcast is the official podcast of Star Wars News Net, the source for all Star Wars related news. The Resistance Broadcast is interactive with the fandom, and offers unique segments covering news, discussions, debates, games, and answers viewer questions. They have two episodes a week (Mondays and Thursdays), as well as special feature shows covering movie, television, book and rumour reviews.

5. Live Chat Round-Up
I love live chats. I am a live chat junkie. Usually there is some panel of guests (or just the hosts), and the topics range from planned discussions to whatever comes up in the comments. Here is a recap of some of the chats I participated in this week (or listened to later):
- Josh & Adam from A Certain Point of View hosted a live-chat discussing the latest news in gaming & books, as well as answered viewer questions (including mine!). I missed their previous week's chat on Star Wars and social issues, but it was an important discussion!
- Watch Scotty from Beyond The Blast Doors lose his mind over the new EA Squadrons reveal. I laughed so hard! The chat was great too.
- Pete, Andrew & Brock from Rebel Scum Podcast held a live chat to discuss the cancellation of Celebration (among other topics). The feed was a bit buggy and I had to bail early, but I always enjoy chatting with my fellow hosers.
- Ro & Brad from the Scarif Scuttlebutt Podcast are deep-diving into thematic topics, and invited Michelle and Natalie from Force of Light Entertainment Podcast to discuss destiny, fate & free will.
- My friend Lauren from the GALactic Podcast joined the gang at WSTRmedia to discuss The Rise of Skywalker documentary and other topics.
Well that's all for this week! Hope you enjoyed my first recap post!
