Well hello there!

First off, I want to give a warm thank you to everybody who has supported me with regards to this project. My hope was contribute to the fandom in a positive and meaningful way by highlighting some of the content being created by my Star Wars podcast friends!

One of the things I have noticed is that there seems to be trends that happen in the Star Wars podcast universe. This week, the trend seemed to be geared towards fan interaction and participation. The podcasts I highlight this week did a great job at engaging with their viewers!

1. The Bombadcast

The Bombadcast celebrated their 50th episode and one-year anniversary by celebrating what it means to "stay Bombad"!  The hosts, Scotty Jayro & Gerry "the canon junkie" Cable held on live-chat and we got a chance to listen to their story, how and why they started, and what this process meant to them. They also receive phone calls from special guests & other podcast creators letting them know what it means to be bombed. We even got a special appearance...it was the chef's *KISS* so-to-speak.

The Bombadcast believes in fandom positivity by creating a safe haven to talk about everything Star Wars while keeping it fun with plenty of laughter. They are part of the Beyond the Blast Doors Network

2. Around the Galaxy

Pete Fletzer from Around the Galaxy was joined by Andy Lemiere from The Holochronicles Podcast to discuss if the final act by Luke Skywalker in The Last Jedi to stop the First Order was the truest realization of Yoda's teaching (or if there was a more defining moment). They also discuss Rian Johnson's vision of what it means to be a Jedi and the controversy this caused, including the #NotMyLukeSkywalker movement.

Around the Galaxy is a Star Wars fan talk show that features celebrities, podcasters, collectors and super fans to discuss what makes Star Was and the fandom special, and what the franchise means to them. They are part of the Beyond the Blast Doors Network

3. The Holochronicles Podcast

Marshall Julius from the Super Awesome Geek Show joined Andy & Josh to discuss his vast and amazing array of Star Wars collectibles. It's impressive to say the least. There is something fascinating about collectors, and The Holochonicles covers a niche area of that fandom that you don't see discussed that often in the SW podcast world. If you thought your collection was impressive, this guy said "hold my beer!"

The Holochronicles Podcast talks about Star Wars with a focus on Star Wars toys and memorabilia and the collectors who amass them. They are part of the Beyond the Blast Doors Network.

4. Black Squadron Podcast & The Uncanny Nerd

BP, Slade & Mari from Black Squadron Podcast have been hosting these really fun & interactive live-chats reviewing all of the movies, called 5UP3DOWN.  Basically, each host lists the five things they liked and the three things they didn't like with each Star Wars movie. I've really enjoyed interacting with them, and what they have to say is fair, balanced and valid. The one I participated in this week was about The Last Jedi, and the previous one about The Force Awakens. The next one will be about The Rise of Skywalker.

In addition, all three are also hosts/guests on The Uncanny Nerd Podcast, which deals with all sorts of nerdy things (not just limited to Star Wars). They had a great chat about The Mandalorian

Both have been added to my favourite rotation list because I just simply have a good time, which is what you want from a podcast, really.

Black Squadron Podcast discusses all things Star Wars, good and bad...but mostly good.

The Uncanny Nerd Podcast discusses Ball things nerdy related to science fiction and fantasy movies, TV shows, comic books, conventions, cosplay, and whatever other format exists for the nerd in all of us.

5. Live Chat Round-Up & Other Podcasts

Here are some of the live chats I checked out this week.
  • Alberto from Radio Rebellion: A Star Wars Podcast hosted a live chat to discuss the new book to be released, From A Certain Point of View: Empire Strikes Back. Part of the live chat was spent discussing what we would hypothetically write about if we were given a chance. It was a fun hour and I look forward to future chats!
  • Steele from Steele Wars scored every single scene from The Rise of Skywalker in a three-part extravaganza, and wrapped up his thoughts on the movie as a whole. I'm going to check that out this weekend.
